Abstract
ABSTRACT
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays an
extraordinary role in stimulating economic growth and
openness in developing countries , due to it is significant
in capital formation has a greater impacton economic
development in the long run.
Sudan as one of the developing countries has attracted
FDI since nineteenth via improving the investment
climate by adopting economic liberalization policy. As a
result, FDI inflows in the country is increasing over the
years.
This study empirically evaluates the contribution of
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as dependent variable,
and other explanatory variables conclude exchange rate,
openness (measured as the ratio export and import to
GDP), and domestic investment ( measured as the ratio
of GDP) economic growth on FDI in Sudan. By using
annual data for the period (1990~2005).
The statistical results show that the time series of
variables are non-stationary in levels expect FDI is
stationary in level. That means the ordinary statistical
methods could yield wholly misleading results, and the
econometric analysis shows that the exchange rate and
domestic investment did not have any influence on FDI ,
but there was a significance influence of the gross
domestic product and openness on FDI , and the co-
integration test suggests that the time series of the
variables are co-integrated that means they achieve an
equilibrium relationship in the long run.
