| dcterms.abstract | University of Elnileen Post-Graduate College Faculty of Arts — Library and Information Sciences Department Title: Electronic Library Role in Scientific Researches: Library of El Ribat University case study Prepared by : Muthafar Anwar Abd El Rahman F agiri Supervisor: Dr. Manhal Abd Elmageed Yousif Mohammed Ali Degree: M A in Library and Information Sciences Date: 2012 This study aims to discuss the role of electronic library in scientific research through the information services and modern methods provided by the e-library. It also, aims to explain to what extend the researchers benefited in their researches from these services. The study also, aims to explain types of information resources provided by the e-library and the applications used in managing these resources, and to what extend the researchers trust these resources and how they access them. Historical and descriptive methods, both survey and case study, were used as well as interviews, observation and questionnaire. In addition to the introduction, the study includes three chapters. The first chapter contains general concepts about sciences, information, and scientific research and its relationship with the technology, and to what extend the libraries and librarians cope with the technological environment in tenns of equipment material and qualified staff and the path to deal with modern techniques, and meet the challenges facing the e-libraries. The second chapter defines electronic information services provided by e-libraries, its types and the impact of the technology on these services. This chapter, also, defines the electronic information, its characteristics, methods of access, and its benefits to scientific research. Chapter three focuses on practical study in which the questionnaire is analyzed to find out the role of e-library in the service of scientific research and to what extend researchers benefited from the information resources and services. The study has came to a number of results, the most important of them are: - The e-library supports the academic programs in universities, that the percentage of supporting is 58%. - 80% of researchers of Elnileen University, and 70% of El Ribat University are benefited from the e-library in their researches. el - 88% of researchers assured that the e-library played an effective role in supporting scientific researches. The study recommended that: - All university libraries should adopt e-library projects. - The need for careful selection of human cadre to manage the e-library. |
