Abstract

Abstract This research aims at revealing the causes of low standard in achievement of Third Year Secondary School in Physics in lbb govern rate at Yemen, and that is from the point of view ofsecondary school physics teachers and students. To fulfilling this aim the researcher used a questionnaire, which consists of 50 statements distributed among the following titles: Content of curriculum, Teacher, Student, and School Administration. The questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of 58 Physics Teachers (out of 154) in lbb, and a random sample of 200 student (out of 10051) were given one part of the questioner, which is concernting the title teacher. To analyze data the researcher used the coefficientofSpearman 7 and B_rown and also k". The result of the research revealed several reasons due to the low standard of achievement in physics; and the following are the outstanding ones: The curriculum’s content of physics depends on quantity and not on quality. The physics textbook does not interest students in physics- The physics student lack basic knowledge in physics and Math. The main aim of physics Students is to obtain school certificate and neglect mastering- The school administration does not care to supply laboratory aids for teaching physics and does not think of having a separate lab. building- The physics teacher finds difficulty to teach without having educational aids. The physics teacher does not use an interesting introduction for his lesson. Introduction for his lesson- In the light of the research results the researcher recommends the following! l. To utilize a lot of human and material resources from the government and from international and national 2. Organizations for the sake of fulfilling the aim of raising the standard of achievement of students in science education- 3. School administration should give more care and cooperate to prepare educational aids for teaching science ifit can be available. 4. School administration should do a kind of special work to strengthen the relation between the teachers and students. The researcher suggests the following researches: l.
