dc.description.abstractAbstract Background: Iron- Deficiency Anemia is a common problem among women, primarily due to their recurrent menstrual loss. Demand for iron is higher among pregnant women, and women with anemia in combination with early onset of childbearing, a high number of births, short intervals between births and poor access to antenatal care and supplementation are likely to experience poor pregnancy outcome. Objective: To assess the knowledge and Attitude of mother's regarding prevention of iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy at Saad Abu Elella Teaching Hospital Methodology: This is descriptive cross sectionals hospital based study conducted selected by Convenience sampling technique and there number was on 99 mothers attending to antenatal care service at Saad Abu Ella Teaching Hospital, Khartoum State. Data were collected by using questionnaire containing socio demographic, knowledge, and attitude related questions. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 using simple frequency tables and graphs. Results: Most important result of this study showed that (75%) of the mothers had a good knowledge on causes, risk factor, fetal complication and prevention methods of iron deficiency anemia; While some of them had poor knowledge about sign and symptoms of iron deficiency anemia. The majority of the mothers (88.8%) had a positive attitude towards prevention of iron deficiency anemia. There was a co relation between knowledge, age , education and the number of pregnancy. Conclusion: the researcher conclude that Knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding preventions of iron deficiency anemia are satisfactory Recommendation: Researcher suggest that increase the positive perception of pregnant mothers and her husband's towards prevention of iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy.en_US
