The Impact of Computer in Enhancing Sudanese EFL Students` Spelling

Abstract

Abstract This study analyzes spelling mistakes and how computer helps students, the aim of this study is to compare the spelling of students who use computer with the spelling of students who do not use computer, the study also aims to identify the role of technology in enhancing students` spelling. The researcher uses quantitative method in order to identify and analyze the participants` performance through interpretation and calculation. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. The participants of this study are 60 first year students of the academic year 2016/2017, majoring in English. The students were 30 males and 30 females, and they study at AL-Neelian University Faculty of Arts English Language Department. All the students speak Arabic as a first language and English as a foreign language. المستخلص تحلل هذه الدراسة الأخطاء الإملائية للطلاب و كيفية مساعدة الكمبيوتر الطلاب على حل مشاكلهم الإملائية. تهدف هذه الدراسة على مقارنة إملاء الطلاب الذين يستخدمون الكمبيوتر لحل واجباتهم المنزلية مع الذين لا يستخدمونها, أيضاً تهدف الدراسة التعرف على دور التكنولوجيا في تحسين قدرة الطلاب الإملائية . استخدم الباحث الطريقة الكمية لجمع وتحليل البيانات من خلال التفسير والحساب.استخدم فيها استبيانا واحدا لجمع البيانات . تتكون عينه هذه الدراسة من ستين طالبا و طالبه من السنة الدراسية الأولى في العام الأكاديمي 2016-2017 كل الطلاب من قسم اللغة الانجليزية ,يتكون عدد الطلاب من (30)طالبا و(30)طالبه ويدرس جمعيهم في قسم اللغة الانجليزية ,كليه الآداب ,جامعة النيلين. جميعهم يتحدثون اللغة العربية كلغة أم و الانجليزية كلغة أجنبية .
