This phenomenon is a challenge facing our Muslim society and represents a gross violation to child’s human rights. This study attempts to throw lights on this phenomenon and suggesting solutions that could help in curbing the negative consequences associated with the phenomenon and finding better alternative nursing. Using survey data from Khartoum, the study aims at exploring the role played by orphanages in the process ofsocializing and socially integrating parentless children. Employing descriptive analysis, the study attempts to verify the following hypotheses: l. Orphanages play a very vital role in the socialization of parentless children. 2. Social integration of parentless children is highly dependent upon better socialization. 3. Socialization of parentless children produces good citizens. 4. Socialization off parentless children is the best alternative nursing. 5. Parentless children baste needs such as; education. health, sports, etc are met by orphanages. 6. To a large extent, orphanages are the best alternative nursing for parentless children. 7. Parentless children find good social atmosphere in orphanages. In view of these findings, the study recommends the following: l. Concerned institutions should place higher priority to needs ofchildren, particularly children with special needs. 2. Plans should be designed to upgrade the performance ofthe institutions concerned with the provision of children needs. 3. Provision of funds to orphanages. 4. Facilitating marriage will radically assist in ridding the society ofthe problem ofchildren born illegally.
