Abstract
Abstract
Recently poisoning at home became one of the common prevailing
problems in Sudan. Mothers in the home are more contact to children; they
have to be aware about the poisoning, sign of poisoning and the methods to
prevent the child. This descriptive cross sectional community base study
design.
Current study
aim
to assess mother knowledge towards poisoning
among children under five years at home. The study
involved
100 mothers
who selected by simple
random
sampling. The data collected by
questionnaire
consisting of parts:

:
was designed to assess the
socio demographic data of participants
included four questions from (1-4)
The second part
:
was developed to collect data about the
participants
about
definition of poisoning, occurrence of poisoning pre house and type of
poisoning(5-7).The third part:
was designed to collect data the knowledge of
mother about the sign and symptoms, immediate intervention and prevention
of (food poisoning, medication poisoning, and chemical poisoning) and
complication (8-19)
analyzed
by statistical package of social science
version 16 and
presented
by table and figures. The most important
results
they not significant statistical relation between the age and knowledge of
mother about immediate intervention of food poisoning significant
statistical relation between the level of education and sign of food poisoning
significant statistical relation between the level of education and
complication of poisoning.
Concluded
that showed good knowledge of
study population regarding sign and symptoms and complication and poor
knowledge regarding immediate intervention and prevention.
