Abstract

Abstract Title :- Tlle Functions of Sport libraries and their Role in promoting sport. with case study: the library of the college of physical Education at the Sudan University of Science & Technology ( 1996 — 2003 ) . Student :- ' Sid Ahmed Awad Alkarim Siddi g University :- AL Neelin University College :- College of post —- Graduate studies , Department of Documentation and Libraries . (Master's Degree Dissertation) . ' Supervisor :- t Dr. Abbas AL Shazali Awad ALkariem . Time Scope :- 2001 — 2003 . The Student aims from this dissertation to focus on the significance and necessity of specialized sport libraries as important units sport-organization and institutions These libraries should facilitate and provide knowledge and information's to enhance and intensify the level of Rehabilitation and Qualifications for Sport cadres and Activities . The Methodology of the Student is the Descriptive method through surveying beside the case study and the historical method . This had been attained by electing a sample representing the active sport organizations and institutions as :- l. (l6) Lectures from the college of physical education out of (29) 2. (85) male and female students ( representing 3"‘ and 4n‘ year ) out of (348) 3. (10) executives from active sport organizations and institutions out of (24) According to the statistical analysis the Student was able to reach the most important results as: 1. Sport libraries in sport organizations and institutions are still missing units according to scientific standards. 2. From the study sample has been agreed that sport library is important unit in providing information which leads up to ~ level of qualifications of sport cadres. 3. the executives from sport organizations and institutions assure that they are ready to go ahead in the mean time and ‘future in establishing sport libraries . 4. the sport library is a necessity and not a luxury . The study present the following important recommendations: l. the ministry of youth and sport must shoulder its responsibilities by establishing a central. sport libraiy and also to supervise branch libraries (technically) affiliated to sport unions 2. funds must be allocated by departments where these libraries are affiliated to. _ 3. these libraries must be connected by local networking , and with typical regional and international libraries by the internet. 4. to exert much efforts to establish club libraries. 1
