Abstract
Dynamics Effect of the Politicized-Ethnicity and the Organized-Lobbies on
the Social Interaction between the Arab and Nuba in the Sudan
A Case Study in Dalanj Locality
The essence of the Study is to identify the social interaction between the Arab
and Nuba ethnicities that co-exist in a text sample of a micro-Sudan. The Study aims is,
to shed-light on the overlapping relations of the politicized-ethnicity and the organized-
lobbies, which may impede the social harmony, that has been going on, between the two
groups for quite a long time. Other aim is to enrich the theoretical and empirical
literature of the social theory as a relevant frame-work for such interaction. Moreover,
the study aims to create a measurement, which may be helpful, in the future to address
the similar problems in the Sudanese community.
The Study has been divided into five chapters: Chapter one handles the
methodological introduction. Chapter two, deals with the theoretical framework, and
the written literature. In chapter three a historical account of the interaction between
the two groups has been traced. Chapter four is devoted to the field survey, while in
chapter five a general conclusion and the recommendations have been figured-out.
The Study adopted the descriptive-analytical method, which uses an
anthropological design to describe the local community and its different structures. The
secondary data of the study has been collected from the libraries and potential archives.
The study made use also of, of the group-interview and the participant observation.
Besides, a questionnaire of 2_40 copies has been distributed among the local community
of the study. The descriptive statistical tool via the SPSS has been used to analyze the
field outcome ofthe questionnaire. The Study revealed the followings outcomes:
1. The independent variables that are significantly, correlated to the dependent
variable (the social interaction), are: the social participation, influence of the
mass-media, social status, residential background, ethnic belonging. While the
independent variables that are significantly, not correlated to it, are: the age,
sex, education standard and the income.
2. The independent variables that are nominally, proved to be correlated with the
variables of the politicized-ethnicity and the social interaction, are: the social
communication, influence of the mass-media, and the social participation.
Whereas those variables, which are proved to be independent and significantly,
not correlated to the two variables, are: the age, sex, residential background,
ethnic belonging, education standard and the income.
3. The independent variables that are significantly and nominally, proved to be
correlated to the organized-lobbies groups and the social interaction are: the
social communication, social participation, age, influence of the mass-media,
and the residential background. While those variables that proved to be totally
independent, and not correlated to the two variables are: the sex, ethnic
belonging, education standard, income and the social status.
The Study came out with the following recommendations:
0 A special consideration should be devoted to handle the variables that
are significantly, correlated to the social interaction and those correlated
to the politicized-ethnicity, organized-lobbies and the social interaction.
- Further studies should be conducted to test significance of those
variables that have been proved to be independent. In addition,
practical recommendations have been set-out as far as the descriptive
dimension of the study is concerned.
