Anatomical Variations of The Radial Wrist Extensor Muscles Among Sudanese Cadavers

Abstract

Abstract The tendons of the extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis muscles are quite useful in tendon transfer, such as in correction of finger clawing and restoration of thumb opposition, when the median nerve is injured(median nerve palsy) at the region of the wrist joint. Knowledge of additional radial wrist extensor muscle bellies with independent tendons is useful in the above-mentioned surgical procedures. this studies tallk about the anatomical variation of an additional radial wrist extensor and relationship between this muscle and tow radial extensor (ECRL and ECRB) muscles. This study conducts on 76 cadavers in Khartoum universities. Out of 17cases found the anatomical variation the additional muscle and that found relationship between additional muscle and tow radial wrist extensor muscles with restance of the median nerve palsy (danger clawing fingers of the hand) which occurres due to injury of the median nerve and normal relationship between tow extensor radial wrist muscles and median nerve palsy.

ملخص الأطروحة ان اوتار العضلة الكعبرية الرسغية الباسطة الطويلة والعضلة الكعبرية الرسغية الباسطة القصيرة أوتار مهمة في عملية نقل الوتر مثل تصحيح تمخلب أصابع اليد واسترداد معارضة الإبهام عند حدوث شد أو قطع للعصب النصفي في منطقة مفصل الرسغ (المعصم). معرفة وجود عضلة إضافية باسطة قصيرة تساعد في عملية نقل الوتر ومعارضة التمخلب أو الشد الذي يحدث في إصابع اليد خاصة الإبهام وبالتالي يمكن الاستفادة من ذلك في الإجراءات الجراحية. هذه الدراسة تحدثت عن الاختلافات التشريحية في عملية وجود العضلة الإضافية وعلاقتها بالعضلتان (العضلة الكعبرية الرسغية الباسطة الطويلة والعضلة الكعبرية الرسغية الباسطة القصيرة) بين السودانيين في ولاية الخرطوم. أُجريت الدراسة على ستة وسبعون عينة من مختلف المشارح بكليات الطب بالجامعات المختلفة في ولاية الخرطوم حيث أن (17) عينة منها وجد فيها إختلافات عن وجود العضلة الإضافية وعلاقتها بالعضلتان الكعبريتان وعملية مقاومة شد أو تمخلب أصابع اليد بسبب انقطاع العصب النصفي وعن العلاقة الطبيعية بين العضلتان وعملية شد العصب النصفي.
