Abstract

Abstract This a retrospective study done from the records obtained from the military hospital (El-silah El-tebi). The study aimed to determine the refractive state of students who applied for Sudanese Military College in 2009. Six hundred subjects were included: all of them were males and their ages ranged between I6-20 years. Data was collected from records. The infommtion collected was: age, vision (unaided vision), refractive state, visual acuity (aided vision). Results obtained were: Emmetropia represents 87.30%, 85.70% in RE and LE respectively. Myopia was the highest percentage of refractive error, which was 5% in RE and 5.80% in LE. Other types of refractive errors also found with less percentage. The improvement in vision by spectacles was 100%. Key words: Refractive state, Ametropia, Emmetropia.
