Abstract

This research aimed to identify the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese Banks and the extent achievement of its objectives by studying the variables that may affect the effectiveness of these decisions. Where the research community included all the 37 banks operating in the Sudan, the comprehensive inventory method has been used to cover the departments related to the research subject. The researcher used the descriptive method based on the survey study in order to achieve research objectives and answering its questions, whereas the research was based on the following hypothesis: 1. There is a statistically significant relationship between the presence of a clear investment plan and the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese banks. 2. There is a statistically significant relationship between the efficiency of the body that makes investment decision and the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese banks. 3. There is a statistically significant relationship between the preparation of the feasibility study of the investment projects that the banks intend to enter in and the effectiveness of the investment decisions. 4. There is a statistically significant relationship between the use of the evaluation methods of the investment project and the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese banks. 5. There is a statistically significant relationship between the availability of data & information and the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese banks. 6. There is a statistically significant relationship between the observance of the Central Bank Guidelines in tenns of investment and the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese banks. 7. There is a statistically significant relationship between the investment risk management and the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese banks.

8. There is a statistically significant relationship between the presence of corporatergovemance systems in the Sudanese banks and the effectiveness of the investment decisions in the Sudanese banks. The field study results have disclosed numerous findings; the most important thereof are the followings: The investment decisions in the Sudanese banks have achieved its desired goals (Development, profitability, reserving a'ep0sit0r’s money, and achieving the social & economical objectives), the study also showed the presence of a statistically significant relationship between all the independent variablesmentioned in the hypothesis and the supplementary variable (the effectiveness of investment decisions in the Sudanese banks). The study come out with numeral- recommendations, the most important thereof are: The need to develop a clear investment plan for the Sudanese banks detennines the size of the expected amount of the investment, fields of ., K0 investment that the bank intends to enter in, as well as the bodies responsible for making investment decisions and the limits of their authority. The need for diversify the investment portfolio of the Sudanese banks, non-focusing only on a single field of investment, and taking into consideration making profits in addition to the reasonable level of risks.
