dc.description.abstractiiiAbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate the use of vocabulary learning strategies and how students can find effectivestrategies to memorize English words. The data were collected through two research instruments, a test for 80 EFL students at Al-Neelain University second year students, and a questionnaire for10 EFL teachers. Descriptive statistics is used to analyze the data. The findings of the study indicate that.There are many types of memorization strategies used in English vocabulary learning;alsorote learning repetitionis the most frequently used strategy,whileusing English languagemediaisthe least frequently used strategy.The most preferredstrategies arerote learning.Find the meaning of word from dictionary and guess the meaning of word from the context. In addition, this study recommendsthat, further research may investigate more factors affecting EFL students approaches to Englishvocabulary learning and memory strategies which may playdifferent roles for different studentsen_US
