Al-Neelain University Graduate College The Effect of Anisometropia on Fusion and Steropsis Abstract Aim: To evaluate the effect of anisometropia on fusion and steropsis before and after wearing correction. The study was done at Makkah Eye Complex and Abd Alfadil Almaz Hospital at the period from March to September 2015. Material and methods: This is a cross sectional hospital based study, a total of 70 subjects were examined, I0 subjects were excluded, and only sixty of them were included in this study, 27 were males and 33 females; their age ranged between (10- 26) years with a mean of 18.80 and SD i3.72. (20 of subjects was examined at Makkah Eye Complex at period from March to June, 40 subjects examined in Abd Alfadil Almaz Hospital from June to September). Vision was tested by Snellen test type (E. test), refraction was done by using retinscope, outer eye tested by torch, inner eye with ophthalmoscope, fusion and stereopsis were evaluated with major amblyscope and Titmus fly test respectively. Results: Fusion showed no improvement directly alter wearing correction in almost all cases df (59) t (6.9) P value (0.003), while stereopsis revealed a considerable improvement afier wearing correction df (59) t (-3.0) P value (0.000). Conclusion: I-lyperopic anisometropia was more frequent than the other types (21 subjects); hypermetropic subjects showed worse fusion and stereopsis than myopic and astigmatic anisometropia, the hyperopic anisometropia more than l D and spherical myopic anisometropia more than 2 D and astigmatic anisometropia more than 1.5 D result in decrease fusion and stereopsis. Keyword: fusion, stereopsis, anisometropia, myopia, hypermetropia. iien_US
