Abstract

Abstract Asthma is one of the most common non-communicable diseases affecting school children ,asthma said to be under-diagnosed in tropical countries including Sudan. school health is meant to be an integral part of the primary health care package. The training of the school teachers as health guides in schools is one of the most important strategies for the promotion of school health. Those teachers should be aware of asthma as one of the common emergency diseases among schools' children and require urgent medical intervention. The aim of study was to assess knowledge and attitudes of teachers regarding care of asthmatic child in basic government school . Methods : Descriptive cross-sectional facility based study was conducted in Khartoum state in Jabal Awlia Locality in government basic school in of Alazhary and Alangaz . The study subject are 146 school teachers, The questionnaire used to collect data and the technique is self-administered questionnaire and used to quantitative data, data were analyzed using SPSS version (16). Results : The study reveal most of teachers have V. good knowledge about sign of asthma(34.9%), and (54.8%) have poor knowledge about complication of asthma .There is significant relation between years of experience and knowledge of teachers about academically affected child the p value=0.002 . There is high significant relation between years of experience and attitudes of teachers to manage child exposure to attack at school P Value =0. There is no significant relation between years of experience and attitudes of teachers about preventive method of recurrent attack P value= 0.146 Conclusion: The teachers have poor knowledge and attitudes regard care of asthmatic child in school.
