Abstract
Aims of the thesis:
1. Conducting analysis to the course of Man and Universe prescribed in
the basic level,Second Series, as to the targets, content, teaching
methods and aids,assessment and production of the school textbook.
2. identification of the teachers opinions on such syllabus as to the elements
thereof and their evaluation.
3. To reach to the preference of unifying the three subject (Science,History
and Geography) in one subject and whether there are advantages and
disadvantages for such unification.
Sample of the study:
It consists of 29 male and female teachers out of 70.
Tools of the study:
A field study was conducted and a questionnaire was distributed to the teachers.
Most Important Result:
1. The targets of the subject(Man and Universe)are quite clear.
2. The syllabus targets realize a great deal of knowledge dimension but no
emotional dimensions are to be realized thereby.
3. Partial method in implementing the syllabus content is better than the
integral one.
4. There is lack of teaching aids in the schools.
5. If the syllabus is perfectly applied and implemented it will develop the
Imagination ,the perception and the mental and sensory skills of the learners.
6. The book internal shape,cover and type of paper have a great role in the
Success of the educational and learning process.
7. Teaching the subject 0f(Man and Universe)needs well training and in service
training.
8. The syllabus previous form is better than the current one (the unified subject)as
in the teachers’ opinion.
9. Teacher's guidebook has a great role in the success of the educational process
Most Important Recommendations:
1. The form of the current syllabus should be reconsidered.
2. We have to be concerned about testing the syllabus before it is generalized.
3. The teachers should be well trained on how to implement the syllabus before
teaching and within sewice.
4. The book internal and external shape ,colouring,cover and type of paper
Should be reconsidered.
5. Teacher's guidebook should be provided.
Most Important Suggestions:
1. Similar studies in other fields should be conducted to generalized the benefit.
2. The syllabus should be subject to analysis from other different viewpoints
( educational instructors,parents,and relevant experts).
3. Making use of international experiences to produce school textbook in such a
way that it will be convenient with country available potentials.
4, Establishment of in- service training and cultural course for the teachers.
