Groundwater Quality Evaluation of ALgolid Locality (Northern State) Sudan

Abstract

Abstract AlGolid represents the study area . It is located in the northern state , south dongola. It lies between latitudes(180 45\/18031\ N) and longitudes (30031\ /30047\E) . It has desert to semi-arid elimate. The study area is located in the floodplain of the River Nile ,a generally flat surface and reaches the highest elevation in the area approximately 260m above mean sea level. The main goal of the study is to assess the groundwater Quality ,estimate the general direction of groundwater flow and determine the hydrochemical facies of the groundwater. The water table map shows different direction of groundwater flow. However comparing this map with previous study and the hydrogeological map of the sudan , it could be deduced that the main direction of groundwater flow is toward the north west. The groundwater type in the stydy area is CaMgHCO3 Except ALTahir project area which is NaCl type . Correlation and comparing of different hydrochemical parameters (TDS,TH,Ph and major ions) with World Health Organization and local Sudanese standard ,It could be concluded that the groundwater in the study area is fit for human consumption . The calculated Sodium Adsorption Ratio values(0.76 to 3.63) show that the groundwater in the study area is suitable for agricultural usage.

المستخلص تقع منطقة الدراسة في الولاية الشمالية جنوب دنقلا بين خطي عرض (180 45\/180 31\ N) وخطي طول. (300 31\ /300 47\E) الهدف الرئيسي من هذه الدراسة هو تقييم صلاحية المياه الجوفية في منطقة القولد ومعرفة الاتجاه العام لجريان المياه الجوفية ، وتحديد السحنات الهايدروكيميائية للمياه الجوفية بالمنطقة. اشتملت وسائل الدراسة على العمل الحقلي التحليل الكيميائي لعينات المياه ، البرامج الحاسوبية بالإضافة إلى نتائج اختبارات الضخ . السحنة الجيوكيميائية (نوع الماء ) في المنطقة Ca- Mg- Hco3 في كل الآبارعدا مشروع الطاهر يقع في سحنة Na-cl2 . من نتائج تحليل عينات المياه في منطقة الدراسة ومقارنتها مع مقاييسهيئة الصحة العالمية والمعايير والمواصفات السودانية وجد أن نوعية المياه ممتازة تصلح لمياه الشرب والإستخدام الزراعي .
