administrative performance in these libraries according to
standards. Analyzing (IFLA) standards and studying the current
situation of Sudanese university libraries were the measurement

A number of research methods were used—including historical,
descriptive analytical and comparative methods-to compare the
Sudanese university library situation with standards. The
researcher used the statistical Package for social Sciences. (SP_SS) for
data analysis.
The study is composed of three chapters and a conclusion:
chapter one is an introduction which explains zthe problem of the
study, its importance, its goals, the population, the methodology,
means of data collection and literature reviews.
Chapter two represents the theoretical study which includes an
analysis of standards focusing on: library goals,
administration, organization, services, collections and automation.
Chapter three is the field study which includes two divisions: the
first one is the study and analysis. of standards compared
with the current situation of the Sudanese university libraries.
second division is the measurement of the Sudanese university
library situation compared with (IFL) standards.
The study was concluded by the results which are:
- The Sudanese university library situation explained that
standards were not fully observed in their admerstrative
performance ;
- These libraries experienced some difficulties and problems in
staff training and financial resources.
To promote and develop the administrative performance, the
study recommends that:
- The Sudanese Library ' Association should adopt
comprehensive regulations for the university libraries.
- A specialized committee should be formed from to suggest
standards for the university libraries in the Sudan.
- Sudanese university libraries should adopt standards
compatible with standards.
- Ministry of Higher Education should provide financial support
for government university libraries.
