dc.description.abstractAbstract The study aims at identifying the degree of motivation of secondary schools the effects of gender and the school location with students for joining the schools, theleffects of gender and the school location with reference to the motives . It also includes recommendations which contribute to the enhancement of syllabus design and provides,,hopefully, the teachers ‘with the necessary assistance reduired outside and inside the classroom . t The researcher has adopted the descriptive approach and the group under study was.represented by second year_seco'ndary students — from both seites in Khartoum North. Province officially registered for the school year 2002 — 2003 the total numberiof the group under study was : 264— l32 (boys), 132 (girls).' '. ‘ . ' The group has been selected at random from_(l2) school . The data has been selected through : ' _ g ' l—Primary in formation questionnaire .' i _ V‘ _. ' ‘ 2 — Motivation ‘— based measure for joining secondary schools. (developed by researcher) . . i . ' . ‘statistically, the researcher has adopted : Person’s correlation factor, consistency equation — spearman’s arithmetic mean, standard deviation and (T) tests and analysis ." i . the study has culminated in the following results 1 , j _ l — themotivesiorder for joining education for both sexes was as follows:' love of Knowledge, self — determination, security and settlement, fulfillment of achieve ments, love and dedication to Knowledge, satis fying others . - V ' , ' 2 - There are no statistically significant differences at level (,05) in the motives that can be attributed to gender. _ " j 3 — There are no differences of statistical significance at level (,05) in the motives for joining education that can be attributed to the school location (urban /rural / semi — urban) . ‘ 4 — there_are differences of statistical significance at level (,05),that can be attributed to the school location to the welfare of semi_—urban areas female students.en_US
