Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Kindergarten Teachers Regarding the Infection Control at Kindergarten in Sharg Alneel Locality 2018.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Infection in preschooler is a public health concern because it harms the health of individual children and communities, and also preschool teachers are responsible to control this infection according to their knowledge, attitude and their practice. Aim of this study To study knowledge, attitude, and practice of kinder garden teacher regarding infection control at preschool. Methodology: Descriptive Cross-sectional facility-based study design conducted in Sharg Al-Neel Locality between August 2018 and December 2018. The study was involved 60 kinder garden teachers chosen through multistage random sampling technique. Tools of data collection were questionnaire and direct observation checklist designed by the researcher and analyzed by a computer program the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22, and presented in tables and figures Results: Findings indicate that 71% of respondent didn’t receive training on infection control in preschool but the result revealed there was no significant association between level of knowledge and attending to infection control training (P-value=0.682). Regarding level of knowledge more than third of respondent has fair knowledge (36%) and there was a significant association between knowledge and qualification (P-value = 0.01), also the study revealed that less than half of respondents have fair practice regarding infection control measures in kindergarten and represent 48.3%, and there was no significant association between level of practice and years of experience. regarding attitude, most of the respondents were strongly agreed regarding appropriate hand washing as a measure to reduce transmission of infection and represent 91.7%. The majority of respondent are strongly agreed regarding the exclusion of children and workers when they are infected to reduce transmission of infection and represent 71.7%. Conclusion: Based of the finding the study had concluded that most of the respondents did not receive training in infection control, and also the majority of respondent have fair knowledge and fair practice but an excellent attitude toward infection control. Recommendations: training and workshop in infection control in preschool is highly recommended.

ملخص البحث خلفية البحث: العدوي في الرياض تعتبر مصدرقلق للصحة العامة والمجتمع وتعتبر المعلمات بالرياض هن المسؤلات من مكافحة العدوى في الرياض من خلال المعرفة والسلوك والممارسة. اهداف الدراسة: تقييم المعلمات بالرياض من حيث المعرفة والممارسة والسلوك عن مكافحة العدوى في االتعليم قبل المدرسي. منهجية البحث: تم اجراء دراسة وصفية بمحلية شرق النيل في الفترة بين اغسطس الى ديسمبر 2018 وتضم عينة الدراسة عدد 60 استاذة بالرياض تم حسابها عن طريق اختيار عشوائي بسيط متعدد المراحل وتم جمع المعلومات باستخدام استبيان وقائمة مراقبة تم تصميمهم الباحث وتم تحليل البيانات باستخدام برنامج التحليل الاحصائي للعلوم الاجتماعية. نتيجة الدراسة: وضحت الدراسة ان نسبة 71% من عينة البحث لم يسبق لهن اي تدريب او ورش عمل في مكافحة العدوى لكن الدراسة وضحت انه لا يوجد علاقة ارتباط بين من سبق لهم تدريب في مكافحة العدوى ومستوى المعرفة. فيما يتعلق بمستوى المعرفة وجد الباحث ان معظم مجتمع الدراسة لديهن مستوى معرفة وسط وتمثل نسبة 36% واثبتت الدراسة انه يوجد علاقة ارتباط كبير بين مستوى المعرفة والمؤهلات الدراسية وايضا وضحت الدراسة ان معظم عينة الدراسة لديهن مستوى ممارسة مقبول وتمثل نسبة 48% وانه لا يوجد علاقة ارتباط بين مستوى الممارسة والمؤهلات الدراسية, اما فيما يتعلق بالسلوك معظم مجتمع الدراسة لديهم سلوك ممتاز. الخلاصة: من نتائج الدراسة تبين للباحث ان معظم المعلمات بالرياض لم يسبق لهن تدريب اوحضور ورش عمل فيما يخص مكافحة العدوى وتبين ايضا مستوى المعرفة والممارسة لديهن مقبول ولكن لديهن سلوك ممتاز التوصية: يوصي الباحث بالتدريب الجيد وورش العمل المستمرة فيما يخص مكافحة العدوى لمعلمات الرياض .
