Abstract
Abstract
This studied is established on a research problematic represented in addressing
socio-cultural factors effect on environment exploitation, and its most important
hypotheses were searching for the diflerences between Bedouins (nomads) and
rural farmers in choosing irrigation techniques, and the study adopted the historical
comparative methods, and the primary sources: the questionnaire, observation and
interviews, besides secondary sources represented in books, studies, reports and
some of laws and decisions, and the study was conducted on 60 individual, from
the agricultural schemes of Barak and Alabyiad in the territory of Fezzan in
Southem Libya, and it endeavored to stimulate the socio-cultural system to set
indigenous and formal programs delimiting tlle irrational use of water
consumption, and its most important objectives is to acknowledge the farmers
awareness of enviromnental surrounding, and their evaluation of its most important
problems, and standing upon watering status in the two agricultural scheme.
Most important results, the study arrived at is the low ratio of illiteracy among the
individuals in the sample of the study, and most of them are working in the public
sector of the state as well as practicing farming, and the majority of them view that
the waters fiorn well are gradually decreasing, and the water draining is infringing
the coming generation life, and also the majority of those who belong to Bedouin
origins are interested in animal breeding, and this has its social significance, such
that is reflects the socioeconomic status in their custom and traditions, in contrast,
those who belong to rural origins depend on farming activity in a greater manner,
and most of the farmers from Bedouin origins depends on sprinkle-irrigation, and
in contrast those who are fi'om rural origins depend on drop-irrigation, such that
they are most adaptive to agricultural environment, and they know that increased

water leads to water-logging of the soil and concentration of salts, whml
to be a heath land.
