Abstract
Abstract
The study area located in the Muglad Basin, southwest of Sudan, about 30 km.
north of Heglig oilfield within Bamboo field. It is bounded approximately by (X-
easting rang; 758843 – 765403 E, Y-northing rang; 1127488 – 1135168 N, UTM
Coordinate System, Zoon 35). Sedimentary sequences of the Muglad rift basin consists
of non-marine cyclic sequences of lacustrine and fluvial/alluvial facies of early
Cretaceous to late Tertiary age directly rested upon the Precambrian basement. This
study focusing on fractured basement relying on the previous studies, 3D seismic data,
well log data and FMI analysis result of AG-1 well. The main purpose of the study is
identify the structural style and qualitatively predict the presence of prospects and leads
in the fractured basement over the study area. The integrations of the seismic and
borehole logs data through utilized the seismic interoperation’s techniques by using
geo-model (Petrel Geoscience software), wireline log interpretation using Interactive
Petrophysics (IP) software and qualitatively prospects evaluation using the prospect
risking and ranking evaluations technique, was carried out to defining the horizon
interpretation of the structural basement and prospect evaluation. Available 3D seismic
volume was interpreted for top basement correlated by well log data and came out with
basement horizon, the identification of faults was not only based on their individual
fault characters and time slice as a normal techniques, but also utilized advanced
seismic structure attribute techniques such as Anti-tracking, variance cube, geo-feature
mapping and 3D seismic visualization view to scan the distribution of faults throughout
the 3D seismic. These techniques were carried out to facilitate and enhance the fault
interpretation of the target zone, the result of produced map and petrophysical
parameters which curried out from petrophysical analysis provide a qualitative
evaluation of the fractured basement prospect in Bamboo main area.
