Introduction

Despite advances in cardiac surgery, many patients might still encounter some post-surgical complications and difficulties. To overcome such difficulties, they should receive the required education. In view of the fact that determining the educational needs is the first step in educational planning, the present study aims to determine the educational needs of patients undergoing heart valve replacement. The aim of the study is to assess preoperative Education for patients undergoing Valve Replacement surgery.

Methods: descriptivecross-sectional study was conducted to assess preoperative education for patient in cardiac centers, convenience sample technique was used, and sample size was 40patients, data collected by interviewing questionnaire, and analyzed by SPSS program.

Results: (42.5%) of patients their age group from 21 to 40 (55%) female. (45%), Illiterate(50%), High secondary school University degree (5%).Knowledge about type of surgery they will undergo. (15%) Pallone valvuloplasty, (40%) Surgical repairer and (45%) Valve replacement surgery. And (52.5%) have poor knowledge about General preoperative preparations.(52.5%) haven't knowledge about duration of Anticoagulant postoperatively and majority of patients didn't receive pamphlet or brochure about their diet plan and majority of them received nutritional education from dietitian57.5% more than have of patients has good knowledge about daily dietary intake. 95% of patients have Knowledge about warfarin dosage that marked by different colures. Also fast majority 90%of patients have Knowledge about monitoring of coagulation factors regularly every 2 weeks and more than have 60% ofpatients have Knowledge about unused of aspirin with warfarin.

Conclusion: Based on the results of the current study I fined the patients have poor knowledge in important information about educational diet and medication postoperative and how to take medication if forget taken dosage.
