Abstract

abstract: This study deals with the evaluation of policies followed for the development of library section ( Acquisition department) in the Sudan government universities . The cases at the university of Khartoum ,Sudan University of Science @ Technology , Elneelain University being the largest government universities , embodying a number of various ,scientific specializations in the country. This study has targeted to study the current condition in the present universities libraries , the subject of this piece of study in respect of the existing groups , and to what extent it is suitable for the need of the beneficiaries , especially in the absence of any regulations and curbs, as well as the lack of acquisition of development policies , and also clarifying the need of library users in this electronic age . The theoretical framework of this study has dealt with the process of group development at the university libraries as far as the selection , acquisition use of computer for the process of supply . it ,also proceeded to developing library content in the digital environment . it also dealt with the selection policies and means of evaluation and maintenance . Then came up the study of such a case in the second chapter . The researcher has used a lot of the syllabuses in the course of the study , such as the the descriptive method as well as studying of the same state and the analytical method and documentary style

The outcome of this study has been Exposed and analyzed at chapter three explaining the view points of the beneficiaries at the three libraries the subject of the study in respect the field study and explaining the view point in respect of their need of their excessive knowledge and the way how to deal with the electronic information sources. The most important result the researcher has come to , for the development of library acquisition , is the lack of scientific policies at the government universities , to deal with the subject , for the best interests of libraries on the whole , that means the lack of purification of libraries what is unnecessary and keeping what is only necessary . this means that shortage or lack of library budget so as to help for evaluation of what the library contains , lack in modern technologies now in common use in the libraries , the most important of the recommendation the importance of forming a permanent committee from the ministry of Higher Education and scientific research so as to supervise the follow — up the libraries of the universities , both government and private in equal footing , there should be clear policies to following such policies approved by the administration , depending on scientific laws for the development of library acquisition , and the necessity of qualifying and training the present personnel that will be able to undertake the electronic age .Taking care of building local area Network for the university libraries for operating the process of exchanging the sources of information and to find out the scheme of the library dreamed of, it shall consist of all Higher Education institution in the Sudan and the highest 11SCfillI16SS of all technologies and information now existing around at the Sudan engaged in gathering all information of all technical process within a library .
