Abstract

Abstract This research studies the effects of Globalization mechanisms on economic policies in general, and economic growth policies, factors attracting foreign direct investment inflow, foreign trade policies in Sudan in particular during the period (1988-2002). The research hypotheses that structural adjustment policies (prescriptions of International Monetary Fund (IMF) , World Bank) which have positive impact on economic growth in Sudan . Also , macroeconomic indicators in Sudan are attractive to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In addition, joining World Trade Organization (WTO) will enhance foreign trade in Sudan . , The objective of this research is to identify globalization mechanisms and economic policies in general and globalization mechanism policies in particular and their effects on Sudanese economy. After estimating the model by econometric teclmiques, the research reached the following conclusions:- First: World policies and local policies became interrelated in what is known as economic globalization, Sudan applied many prescriptions of world organizations during the study period, the most important of which were the structural adjustment policies, economic liberalization policies, privatization, investment policies, trade liberalization, regional integration, harmonizing fiscal and monetary policies, etc, which have positive impact on economic growth in Sudan . Second, most macroeconomic indicators have positive impact on the inflow of foreign direct investment in Sudan during the period (1996-2002) . Third , the structure of Sudanese exports depends on primary products which mean lack of competition in world markets, in addition infant industries are exposed to world competition that harm those industries of Sudan . " Finally the ‘research recommends the adoption of economic policies that are in line with the basis of economic globalization, and in hannony with the structure of Sudanese economy that is by economic integration and regional alliance and trade, and addition to agro industrialization following rehabilitation of all agricultural and industrial schemes, and direct oil revenues to build infrastructure.
