Abstract

ABSTRACT This research will consider the problem of water in the area of En Nuhud aquifer, which is an important source of groundwater in Westem Kordofan State. The field _study depends on a group of villages in En Nuhud aquifer There are four groups of villages namely: Saata, Khammas, Elmashbak and Shageddud. The significance and importance of the study evolves from the importance of water as a natural resource upon which the essence of life depends. The objective of the study is to develop knowledge about the water supply problems in the area, water production, human and animal consumption to evaluate the water supply deficit and propose mitigation means to combat the water supply problem. The study follows descriptive methods and analytical statistics in addition to several data collection methods. Currently, primary information are collected through several field trips and observations together with questionnaire and personal communication with people to who are concerned with the issue . Secondary information has also been collected through literature review of references, reports, and scientific papers related to the research. After collection, analysis and summarization of the data, the study concluded that the problem of water supply in En Nuhud aquifer area is attributed to the deterioration of the water sector, the pumping systems are inefficient, repetitive (mal- functions) of the water supply station and lack of funds for maintenance these problems and its consequently led to negative environmental effects on the area and population. Based on the results of the study, some recommendations were suggested to contribute to the mitigation processes.
