Abstract

Abstract This is study aimed at the design of a system that 'en“ables individual coming to Khartounj.st-ate’ for tourism to h'ave easy access to all itourist facilities “and ‘related services associated with tourism in the state based on the information that are provided by the information technology and geographical information systems. This system is based on construction of a geographical map for tourism area such as museums, garden...etc, in addition to service facilities such as hospitals, hotels, restaurants...etc. The system will provide descriptive information about these tourism ,area and enable t;he tourists to search and get information about any of these sites and ljelated service sites. The study tackled the geographical information system from the technical and application, view and then talked about Khartoum state establishment, past history and present situation.‘ _ Through direct personal interviews the researcher found that such a system is not available for these who are concerned. The researcher therefore considered the system by spatial analysis and related the descriptive information of the tourist area to the map. This resulted is information system that answers all queries about tourism and related service areas. ’ In this study the researcher used oracle data base to build and manage the data base, and geographic information system (GIS) to build and manage spatial data and creation the map.
