The Use of Prepositions in Relative Clauses among Sudanese EFL Learners at University level

Abstract

Abstract This study investigates the use of prepositions in relative clauses among Sudanese university students. The study is guided by two main research hypotheses: 1. Sudanese EFL students have problems with using the correct preposition in a relative clause. 2. Sudanese EFL students have problems with using the correct relative pronoun in a clause with a preposition. A test consisting of two sections was used to collect the data. The analysis has shown that Sudanese EFL students have problems with the use of prepositions in relative clauses.

مستخلص البحث تتقصى هذه الدراسة استخدام حروف الجر في شبه الجمل الموصولة الإنجليزية عند طلاب الجامعات السودانية. قامت هذه الدراسة على فرضيتين اساسيتين هما : 1- طلاب اللغة الانجليزية السودانيون لديهم مشكلة في إستخدام حرف الجر الصحيح في شبة الجملة الموصولة. 2- طلاب اللغة الانجليزية السودانيين لديهم مشكلة في إستخدام ضمير الوصل الصحيح في شبة الجملة مع حرف الجر. تم إستخدام إختبار مكون من جزئين لجمع المعلومات. اظهر التحليل ان طلاب اللغة الانجليزية السودانيين لديهم صعوبات في إستخدام ضمير الوصل الصحيح في شبة الجملة مع حرف الجر.
