Awareness of Contact Lenses Use and Contact Lenses Users Attitudes

Abstract

Abstract The aim of the study is to estimate awareness of contact lenses use and contact lenses users’ attitudes among patients with eye complain in Khartoum state. The study included 500 patients of both genders (males and females) the sample of the study was selected from five hospitals and six optical centres in Khartoum state from April 2013 to August 2014. A questionnaire was prepared, tried and then distributed among the patients uses contact lens in Khartoum state the data included age, gender, occupation, contact lenses uses, types, sources of information, saving and washing, lifespan, sleeping with lenses, preferring contact lenses or glasses, insertion and removal, cleaning and prices. The ratio of males to females was 1-3. The most age of patient’s was range from 15 to 30 years. Most of the patients believe that they can sleep with any type of contact lens and (60.7%) of the patients prefer the spectacles because it does not touch the eye, easy to use. Most of the patients believe that contact lens is expensive.

الخلاصة هدفت هذه الدراسة الي تقويم الوعي بالعدسات اللاصقة وسط مرضي العيون في ولاية الخرطوم شملت الدراسة 500 مريض من كلا الجنسين (ذكور واناث) تم إختيار العينة من خمس مستشفيات للعيون وست مراكز بصريات في الفترة من أبريل 2013 الي أغسطس 2014 . تم إعداد وتوزيع الاستبيان علي مرضي العيون في ولاية الخرطوم وتضمنت البيانات: العمر، النوع، الوظيفة، إستخدامات العدسات اللاصقة، أنواعها، مصادر التعرف عليها، المحافظة ومتي تغسل ، المدة الافتراضية،النوم بها، المفاضلة بينها والنظارة، لبس وإستخراج العدسة اللاصقة، نظافة العدسة وأسعارها. نسبة الذكور للاناث تعادل (3:1) معظم المرضي تتراوح عمارهم بين 15-30 سنة . معظم المرضي يعتقدون انه يمكن النوم بالعدسات اللاصقة و60.7% يفضلون النظارة لانها آمنة ولا تلتصق علي العين ولسهولة استخدامها وأن أسعار العدسات اللاصقة عالية الكلفة.
