Abstract

Abstract ' The thesis is composed of five chapters. Chapter one highlights the state of fisheries in the World, to emphasize the importance of fish and fish production in eliminating hunger and poverty alleviation in the world. In the second chapter fish habitats and biology are explored, and then information about other hydrobiological resources and catching methods and fishing gears are highlighted. The chapter ends With brief details about fisheries in the Arab and African groups. Fisheries investment in Sudan is the main target of the thesis; therefore chapter three concentrates on the fisheries sector of Sudan. Fishing sites and lists of marine, freshwater fishes, aquatic animals, traditional and modern fishing gears equipment and fishing methods are tackled in the chapter. Chapter four deals With the development plans, which were conducted to exploit fish resources in Sudan and explore the image of the national comprehensive plan on fisheries sector. The findings of the thesis indicate that investment is the crucial factor in developing the Sudanese fisheries sector; this is consistent With the govermnent trend in issuing investment laws and give incentives and concessions. The thesis ended with some conclusions and recommendations to encourage investment and investors to be involve in developing more projects in fisheries.
