Abstract

The present research aims to study some psychological needs and investigate their correlation to the “ego” among people with hearing impairment. The researcher has adopted the descriptive analytic approach to test a sample of (60) subject’s (30 male /30 female). The sample has been selected by the simple random sampling method. The researcher has applied two scales for measuring psychological needs, and the “ego” concept among the specified sample. After analyzing the research data with the use of SPSS, the following results have been obtained: Psychological needs and the “ego” concept among people with hearing impairment are utterly positive. There is a positive correlation between psychological needs and the “ego” among people with hearing impairments. Also, there are statistically significant differences among the hearing impaired in psychological needs attributed to the gender variable (male/ female) in favor of the former furthermore, the are no statistically significant differences among the hearing impaired people due to difference in age “ the age variable”. At the end of the study, some suggestions and recommendations for future research in this area have been proposed by the researcher.
