dc.description.abstractCritically ill patients experience moderate to severe pain which minimizes their comfort. If inadequately managed, pain leads to negative physiological and psychological squeal including the development of chronic pain syndromes. Optimal pain relief is reliant on nurses’ systematic and consistent assessment, and regular documentation of pain. This study aim to assess pain management knowledge in nursing in post operative cardiac patients A descriptive cross-sectional study design was utilized. Data was collected using a questionnaire from include tow part .The first part include demographic data (age sex….).Second part include level of knowledge. Sample total coverage by duration 46 nurses caring for post operative patients at Elshaab hospital. The data was analysis by Statistical package for social science (SPSS) and presented in from figure and Table. Statistically significant association between the outcome variable and independent variables was declared at p-value less than0.05. The study was approved by ethical committees at ELNELAIN University and Elshaab teaching Hospital. Most important showed that The majority (91,3%), of candidate showed poor knowledge of pain assessment including general pain assessment to assess pain in ICU ( 78.3%), character to assess pain ( 67.4%) and about global scale and tools (60.9%). Concluded the study is knowledge deficiencies about pain management among nurses and pain tools assessment, although nurses have years of experiences. Finally nurses unknowledgeable of used pharmacological and non pharmacological used.en_US
