The Problems of Using Morphemic Analysis among ALNeelain University EFL Students

Abstract

Abstract The main aim of this study is to investigate the problem of morphemic analysis of EFL students at ALNeelain University, third year. The study has adopted the descriptive analytical approach in collecting and analyzing the data. (50) students were selected as the study sample with no gender specification. The study has reached some findings; the most important ones are as follws: The test result showed the existence of problems regarding the morpheme, but students have managed to get the correct answers for every question. Students struggle much to mention the morphemes of the eight words in question. Only two students got the correct answer with a percentage of (26%) which is less than the percentage of incorrect ones (74%). Based on the findings, the researcher recommends that: Much attention be devoted to the elementary level pupils in acquiring the basic language skills so as to avoid the shortcomings at this stage and to be well prepared students for the secondary stage. مستخلص البحث تتناول هذه الدراسة المشاكل التي تواجه الطلاب فيما يخص الوحدات الصرفية والمشاكل التي تتعلق بها. ولتحقيق ذلك استخدم الباحث الطريقة التحليلية الوصفية في تجميع وتحليل البيانات. وقد تمثلت عينة البحث في 50 طالبا وطالبة تم إختيارهم عشوائيا علما بأن هذا الإختيار شمل طلاب من جامعة النيلين كلية الاداب المستوى الثالث وعليه توصل الباحث الي أن معظم الطلاب يعانون عند إستخدامهم (المورفيم) ومن خلال تجميع البيانات بلغت نسبة الطلاب الذين توصلوا الي الإجابة الصحيحة 26% وتعتب نسبة اقل من نظيرتها الخطأ التي بلغت 74% وبناء علي هذه النتائج يوصي الباحث بأن يكون هناك كثير من الجهد المكثف علي الطلاب المبتدئين حتى يتفادوا تلك الأخطاء المتعلقة بالوحدات الصرفية (morphemic) مما يقودهم الي مستوى أفضل.
