Abstract The aim of this study is to assess the outcomes of results of visual acuity and refractive status of children after cataract surgery. The methods included the refraction and visual acuity measurements before and after surgery. These surgeries were done in makka eye complex for sixty-eight children were selected from record and subdivided into four groups (one year and less, more than 1 to 5 years, more than 5 to 10 years, more than 10 to 15 years) according to their age. Four follow up was done afier surgery (more than week and less than month, more than month and less than 3 months, more than 3 months and less than 6 months, and the last one more than 6months ). The results were presented in a form of frequency distribution, tables, figures, and analyzed statistically by using SPSS 16.0 to give the following results: The VA improved to mean 6/ l8:l:2 lines in the first three follow up and 6/2412 lines in fourth follow up vfithout correction and to 6/12i2 lines with correction in fourth follow up. In refraction the frequency of the hypennetropia has a high level (36.0%), (35.0%), (35,0%), and (34.0%) in first, second and third follow up respectively. There is also high nmnber of astigmatism (23.0%) in first follow up, (21.0%) in second follow up, (21.0%) in third follow up, and (20.0%) in fourth follow up.
