Abstract
Abstract
This study discusses the role of civil society organizations in the
development of Somali society (1992 - 2010). The choice of this
subject as a result of its importance to the work of organizations in the
areas of social and economic development and then filled the vacuum
left by the state institutions. The researcher adopted multiple
approaches quantitative and qualitative, such as: social survey
methodology and the historical method and descriptive method in
addition to the case study approach. Data was collected through '
different means, eg : Questionnaire — interviews — Observation etc .
The main questions of the study are :
1. When the increased activity of civil society organizations in Somalia?
2. What produced the weakness of development projects and continuity
lack in Somalia?
3. What are the main aspects of development of civil society
organizations in Somalia?
The study reached following results :
1. l-las not been formed trade unions and federations and associations,
clubs and parties in Somalia, according to international standards, as
would seek and defend the interests of its members which prevented a
national leadership is sincere and honest than any tribal or regional
affiliation and working for the home.
2. Small percentage of educated and employed in Somali society; andthis did not result from a lack of proportion; but comes from social
reaso‘ns‘in the forefront of women's marginalization in terms of
educational and career, as well as weak social awareness towards the
importance of empowering women. '
3. That the ratio of the beneficiaries of the civil society organizations is
very small compared to the social needs of the community. in
education, make sure that approximately 2.5 million children have
reached school age, but only 18% have educational opportunities.
Recommendations and Proposals :
1. That organizations pay great attention to the projects of productive
families through the provision of machine Tertzk of the family, or
financing a small project for the family, or upgrade the level of the -
mother for being the backbone of the family.
2. Work to raise the efficiency and empowerment of women, and that
by giving the largest proportion of the education and training, and then
reduce the illiteracy rate of women in society in general, and the fight
against race—based culture of marginalizing women through awareness
of Somali society.
3. The need for concerted efforts of organizations and all segments of
society to achieve security, peace and restoration of the strong, I
because that depends on development and development in the Somali
society.
