Abstract
Abstract
This study has tackled the social factors deemed eifective on the educational
achievement of the pupils of the primary schools. This has been performed on the basis of
selected random sampling taken from Essalam Locality schools of the westem Kordofan State as
the subject matter.
The purposes of the study are:
To reveal the extent to which family relations affect the level of educational achievement
of the pupils, to discover the extent to which the discrepencies in the ways parents treat their
children generate passive or positive effect on their educational achievement, to asses how far
the economic status of fl'lC family positively or passively affect the level of the educational
achievement, to explore the extent to which the effect of the social factors related to the school
environment impose an impact on the levels of the educational achievement
The study adopted a major hypothesis which is: the more positive family and school
environment, the more likely that will have a positive impact on the children's educational
achievement, and vise-versa. Added to this major assumption are some other branching ones.
To test this hypothesis, the study has made use of the quantitative, descriptive and
historical analytical approach. Several samples of male and female pupils of "eight‘h" grade were
selected randomly,total number of pupils selected were (296). In addition, a sample of school
teachers and another of the households have been selected using stratified multistage random
sampling. Other research tools being adopted are: focus group discussion(FGD) and interview
beside the questionnaire.
The way parents treat their school children has a great impact on the continuation of their
education. educational and cultural level of the parents has a positive impact on the children's
educational achievement .As well, when occupation of parents is associated with distinguished
social status has direct positive effect on the educational achievement of their children; whereas
children of working mothers showed better educational attainment than their counterparts whose
mothers are either housekeepers or un employed. household stability have a positive etfect on
educational achievement whereas no trace of any effect has been found between the size of the
family and educational achievement. improved quality of the teacher and good school
environment help better educational achievement of the relevant pupils. However, no effect of
the school curriculum on the educational achievement of the pupils of the relevant school has
been cited. household environmental factors have been cited as the most efiective criteria on the
educational achievement of the pupils, and on top of all those factors comes the economic status
of the family.
Lastly, the study has come up with important to better educational achievement at
primary school level. .
