Knowledge Of Secondary School Female Students About Breast Self-Examination In Northern Sudan, Dongola Town School 2022

Abstract

Abstract Background: Breast Self-Examination is a process whereby women examine their breasts regularly to detect any abnormal swellings or lumps in order to seek prompt medical attention.

Objective: To assess knowledge about breast self-examination among secondary school females. Methodology: This is descriptive cross-sectional facility base study design, conducted in Mustafa Adedalwahab Secondary School Female Students. The sample of this study No probability sampling, from whom the data was collected by using questionnaire, and then the data were entered and analyzed by the statistical package for social sciences program, version 22, and finally tables in form of frequency and percentage were used to present the data , and Chi-Square was for calculating the association p-value = > 0.05 . Results: This study found that: the majority of the participants constitute age group (13-15) years 47.9%; Less than half (41.7%, 24%) of participants heard about breast self-examination and get information from Another source(school), the students' knowledge regarding importance of Breast Self-examination was very poor 15.6% ,. This study showed that majority(41.7% 12.5% )of participants never ever perform breast self-examination and not know correct step of BSE. Furthermore, the study found that there was significant association between educational level and the heard Breast Self-examination P = (0.18), also significant association between educational level and the knowing Breast Self-examination P = (0.004). Conclusion: Based on the findings this study concluded that female secondary students had poor knowledge and practice of breast self-examination. Recommendations: This study recommended that the ministry of education will organize program about breast self-examination in secondary school in addition to add this topic in curriculum. المستخلص الفحص الذاتي: للثدي هو عملية مسح ذاتي للثدي بانتظام للكشف عن أي تغيير غير طبيعي في الثدي مما يساعد في التدخل الطبي. أهداف الدراسة: تهدف هذه الدراسة الي قياس مدي معرفه طالبات المرحلة الثانوية للكشف الذاتي للثدي واهميته في الكشف المكبر عن سرطان للثدي أجريت الدراسة بالولاية الشمالية, محلية دنقلا, مدرسة مصطفى عبدالوهاب الثانوية الحكومية . المنهجية :هذه الدراسة هي دراسة وصفية ، مقطعية ، أجريت في مدرسة مصطفى عبدالوهاب الثانوية بنات- الولاية الشمالية 2022 ،لا عينات احتمالية، و تم جمع البيانات منهم عن طريق استخدام الاستبانة ذات الأسئلة مغلقة النهايات باستخدام التقنية الإدارة الذاتية في ملأ الاستبانة و تم تحليل البيانات باستخدام الحزمة الإحصائية لبرنامج العلوم الاجتماعية الإصدار الثاني و العشرون . وأخيرا، استخدمت الجداول لعرض البيانات في شكل تكرارات و نسب مئوية ، وChi-Square كان لحساب قيمة p الارتباط => 0.05 النتائج: أوضحت نتائج البحث ان غالبية المشاركين يشكلون الفئة العمرية (13-15) سنة 47.9٪؛ أقل من نصف المشاركين (41.7٪ ، 24٪) سمعوا عن الفحص الذاتي للثدي والحصول على معلومات من مصدر آخر (المدرسة) ، كانت معرفة الطلاب بشأن أهمية الفحص الذاتي للثدي ضعيفة للغاية بنسبة 15.6٪. أظهرت هذه الدراسة أن غالبية المشاركين (41.7٪ 12.5٪) لم يجروا أبدًا فحصًا ذاتيًا للثدي ولا يعرفون الخطوة الصحيحة للفحص الذاتي للثدي. علاوة على ذلك ، وجدت الدراسة أن هناك علاقة بين المستوى التعليمي و السمع بالفحص الذاتي للثدي (P = (0.18 ، وكذلك علاقة بين المستوى التعليمي والمعرفة بالفحص الذاتي للثدي = (0.004) = P . الخلاصة: خلصت الدراسة بان اقلية من المستهدفين بالدراسة على معرفة الكشف الذاتي للثدي و كلهن لا يقمن بممارسته. التوصيات : توصى هذه الدراسة وزارة التربية و التعليم بزيادة الجهد في رفع الوعى عن الفحص الذاتي للثدي وتعريف المجتمع عن اهميته في اكتشاف سرطان الثدي و ذلك عن طريق وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والإذاعة والتلفزيون واضافة الى وضعه في المنهج الدراسي اذا امكن ذلك.
