Abstract
Abstract
This thesis aimed at evaluating and developing the content of
calculus (1) followed by tlle faculties of education Sudanese in Khartoum
state.
To a chive this objective the researcher used the descriptive method
and selected the samples of the study covering 31 staff members of the
study mathematics subject in Sudanese universities.
There are also 234 male and female university student chosen,
through the purposive method from population semester (2006 — 2007).
The tools used to collect data were the content calculus (1),
questiomiaire for staff members, questionnaire for students and structural
review with highly experienced mathematic educators.
The statistical treatment was done by using the statistical programme
SPSS and by using percentage.
The conclusion of the study is as follows :
1 — The content of calculus (1) that is taught at the faculties of
education in Khartoum state dose not fulfill the objective of teaching
mathematics as it is required.
2 — The characteristics and description for distinguishing a good
university textbook are not found in those textbooks which are taught in
the faculties of education in Khartoum state.
3 — There are some difficulties while lcaming our teaching the
syllabus of calculus (l) at the Sudanese faculties of education in
Khartoum state.
4 — There is a similarities and dilTerentiation in the content ol
calculus (l) at the faculties ofedueation in Khartotnn state.
The sum up ofthe study is suggested a new syllabus of calculus (I) .
Some recommendations are introduced and suggested for the future
studies by the researcher are as follow :

Review of the objectives of calculus’ syllabus at the
Sudanese universities as to mn on with the modem syllabus
and to be well constructed ones.
To co — ordinate between the two syllabuses of calculus in
the faculties of education and secondary school level .
The importance of developing the calculus syllabus for the
Sudanese faculties of Education .
To follow up the implement of the suggested new syllabus
of calculus .
