dcterms.abstractThis study assesses the system of traffic in Khartoum city and the problem of suffocating in the traffic, congestion streets and intersections in order to be considered as the national capital and the heart of Sudan economic and demographic political has undergone increases in population but it did not keep pace with this increase development in the building roads, bridges and tunnels. The objectives of the study were to look for the reasons of degradation and trafficjams in the streets of Khartoum and study road networks and accessories of bridges, tunnels and adequacy. The study followed the analytical method to verify it is hypotheses This research comprises five chapters Chapter I reviews the literature concerning the research methodology and the previous studies. Chapter ll outlines the theoretical framework, Chapter ll|: highlights natural and human factors affecting the system traffic in the study area .Which Chapter IV examines the system traffic in the study area. It also contains the research finding and results as well as conclusion and recommendations. The most important that the city of Khartoum enjoys surface level helped to extend the roads and the city of Khartoum saw increases high population due to migration as well as the city of Khartoum have been built on the plan retina and planning mode to serve military purposes, it does not serve the transportation which requires improved engineered cost is too high, and that the streets do not accommodate the number of vehicles they use parking lots, which increases the burden on them, and the means of transportation used is from small-capacity which acquires into major of the roads as well as the largest consumption of fuel C - The study recommended that most important work on the dismantling of educational services and transfer to the Parties (Al Neelain University and the University of Sudan) and to work towards the direction of building cities specialized industrial areas, medical and service which will reduces the process of congestion plaguing the city of Khartoum, Also the current positions of the bus stations should be transferred outside the city center to convert the current positions to private parking with an emphasis on inflicting multi-storey buildings built parking inside to evacuate them of cars that represent an obstacle in such cases and follow the transport system circular and media usage mass and reconsider at the beginning and the end of the day to lift the congestion as much as possible.
