Abstract

ABSTRACT This study dealt with the topic of the enviromental pollution by solid garbage waste, in Bengazi area. The significance of the topic stems from its importance levels, and the dangers resulting from the advance enviromental impect. The research handled the 0n—going problems in the core of the enviromental pollution by solid garbage, which quantities had increased, types became numerous and sources varied. This in due to the variance in the method and transporting of thier collection to " the final burial site. Moreover, the problem started to increase, day after day, because of the scientific, industrial and technological, developments. Libewize, the researcher noted the increase of the population, at rates which reached about 3% perannum. All this increased the volume of solid garbage waste. I Therefor, the study foused on finding solutions for the correct problem, in the said area, in addition to exploring the degree of citizens’ awareness in dealing with such gerbage — which proved to be low;' which also exploring the negative effects resulting from same. For reaching the required facts, the descriptive — quantitive — ‘statistical — analytic approach was used. Thus two questionaire for a sample of 250 families was used. The first questionaire was distributed to the cititizens which are responsible for the collection of garbage waste. Several results were reached; together with some recommendations, the most important ofwhich are as follows: l- There is anoticeable in solid garbage waste in the area. 2- The concerned entities do not care for the collection of garbage waste, in some living quarters. 3- There is a lower degree of awareness of the citizens, with tlle negative impact of the solid garbage waste. 4- There is no use or benefic from the solid garbage; such as, recycling them. 5- There is an abserce of the role of information, clearly, in the awareness of the citizens, with the problem. The recommendations as follows: l- the limiting of the production of garbage waste, through raising the citizens’ enviromental standered. 2- The new and modern burring aquipment, which is able to contract the air pollution must be used. 3- The method of health burical, must be used, as good enviromental method. 4- The research, development and training must be encpurged, to improve the efficienery of the man agement of solid garbage waste and finding the conducive conditions for the abliteration of the various pollutants; such as the solid garbage waste.
