Abstract

Abstract Study is about theft, and social and economic factors leading to it. This study is made to know social and economic factors that have an effect in commission of theft, to clarify the relation between family dissociation and theft, to discover the relation between poverty and theft, and to give suggestions or solutions in order to help in restricting occurrence of this crime. Researcher has used — in this study - the descriptive approach to describe status of guests, and to know social and economic effects that led them to commit this theft crime, observation, questionnaire to collect information, and also statistical method to collect information about the phenomenon and to analyze data obtained by field study. One of the most important results reached by the study is that the main cause of committing this theft crime is increasing number of family members of guest, poor home situations, as well as low income of these guests which is not enough, so they committed theft crime to get their necessary needs. One of the most important recommendations presented by researcher is to provide occupational services within correctional institutions for educating the perpetrators of theft crime in order to help them in their daily life and to be a sustenance when they face their situations outside prison, and to qualitatively and quantitatively activate this task via an office specialized for employing guests. Researcher has advised the correctional institutions to do more researches specialized in field of factors associated to theft crime including all cities of Sudan to be more comprehensive and accurate, because there is a deficiency in such researches
