Abstract

Abstract The study focus subject of the tourism industry and its role in economic development in Sudan, applied study on the Khartoum state, and by analyzing the performance of tourist activity during the period of 2005 -2009 .The research problem was that, while Sudan has the potential in tourism is not exploited well. but the attention of the this sector with little concern for either the importance ol' the study came simultaneously with the application of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. The study aimed to shed light on the tourism industry and also aims to study the pros and cons from this activity, both urban and rural areas and its impact on the economy illustrate how uninterested. Sudan is in this activity which is rellccted in the volume of investments‘ made by public and private sector. The construction of the tourism" industry requires significant investment. and also highlights the concept of tourism as a new field to increase the volume of employment and thus contribute to the development of solutions to the problems ofunemployment sector investment. The study found number of results, including: l / Sudan has locations and tourist attractions such as the folklore nature reserves. natural aesthetics and eulturcrand social environment (State of the River Nile, Red Sca, South liortlofan, Sennar).. i 2 / the contribution of the tourism sector in the gross domestic product \vithin the weak contribution ofscrvices visible and invisible. J The study recommended the following: _ l / Work to make maximum use ofnatural resources and agricultural water, which claims to improve the economic and social conditions. 2/ Encourage the private sector to invest in tourism projects.
