Abstract

Abstract This researcha aims explain the concept, hindrances, indicators and impact of drug abuse on development from a socioeconomic and health perspective. It also seeks to address local, regional and international control and protective measures focusing on Sudan as an underdeveloped country and the effect of drug sale on its development and progress. The study aims at arriving at practical and academic conclusions in the same framework to provide recommendations that may help in eradication of such practice. Having drawn up my research plan focusing on its importance, problems and questions arising in relation thereto in addition to introducing the research framework, I discussed different types of drugs, the ways they are used, related terminology, source and history, their psychological impact on users, reasons for use and the part played by family in surveillance and combat against drugs. I also deals with the factors related to user's background; the drug type used, in addition to the part played by milieu to include community, family, friends and study colleagues. I also deals with social problems as well as material and human losses ensuing drug misuse. This research proceeds to take Sudan as a primarily agricultural country aspirant to become a prosperous and highly developed country following discovery of huge oil reserves. The receerch familiarizes with Sudan; focusing on its location, population, and development resources with specific focus on agriculture and the impact of drugs on development of human resources, the regions specific for drug culture, circulation and smuggling in Sudan, means and measures of control and combat, and the laws and legislations and coordination at Arab, regional and international levels for combating thereof. the study, adopted both simple statistical and theoretical methods. The study samples have been drawn from drug users among Cowper Sanitarium and Umdurman. prison as random samples. To measure the examinee, the study adopted the questionnaire method where we selected one hundred 100 addicts and data was processed by listing data into columnar tables and the results derived are compared to addiction theories. The study concluded as follows: 1. There is correlation, which is statistically supported, between drug misuse and incorrect socialization. 2. Imitation and bad company are basic motives to drug misuse and addiction 3. The most crucial age stages when individuals become susceptible to misbehave and misuse drugs are adolescence and early youth. 4. Drug misuse has radical impact on the whole process of production and hence on social development. 5. There is a statistically supported correlation, between drug misuse and social disintegration.
