Item Efficacy of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and Traditional Exercises for Chronic Low Back Pain In Khartoum-Sudan 2017-2018(Al Neelain University, 2018-04) Nibrass Ali ElsiddigBackground: Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and traditional exercise are used in treating chronic low back pain. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of TENS and traditional exercises among patients with chronic low back pain. Methodology: control trial study, done in police hospital physiotherapy department. 30 patients were divided into two groups: A (experimental group) 15 patient received TENS and traditional exercises, B (Control) 15 patients received traditional back exercises only. All patients experimental and control groups were evaluated before and after treatment using a visual analog scale, Modified Modified Schoober and oswestry disability index regarding their use of additional medications. RESULTS: There was statistical significant difference in study group when evaluated by VAS scale with P-value (0.000) , Flexion Modified Modified Schoober With P-Value (0.010) , Extension Modified Modified Schoober With p-value (0.001)and oswestry index (0.001) and on the other hand there was also statistical significant difference in the control group when evaluated by VAS scale with P-value (0.001) , Flexion Modified Modified Schoober With P-Value (0.001) , Extension Modified Modified Schoober with p-value (0.001)and oswestry index (0.001). CONCLUSION: There was no difference between TENS and traditional exercise or traditional exercise only for treatment chronic low back pain treatment.
