    OFDM MODEM DESIGN Using MATLAB

    Abstract Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is mainly designed to combat the effect of multipath reception, by dividing the wideband frequency selective fading channel into many narrow flat sub-channels. OFDM offers flexibility in adaptation to time varying channel condition by adopting the parameters at each subcarriers accurately. To avoid ISI due to multipath , successive OFDM symbols are separated by guard band. This makes the OFDM system resistant to multi-path effects . The idea of using parallel data transmission by FDM was published in mid 60s. however, recently the attention toward OFDM has grown rapidly in the field of wireless and wired communication systems. This is reflected by the adoption of this technique in applications such as digital audio/video broadcast, wireless LAN, broadband wireless and DSL . In this Project design of OFDM system transmitter and receiver is introduced and simulation is done using MATLAB. المستخلص تستخدم تقنية OFDM لتقليل مشاكل الارسال بتقسيم نطاق تردد القناه الواسع الى عدة ترددات فرعية ضيقة النطاق . فهو يوفر سهولة الارسال في القنوات المتغيرة مع الزمن وذلك عن طريق ضبط المتغيرات لكل تردد فرعي بدقة . لمنع التداخل يتم فصل العينات بنطاق فصل guard bands وهذا ما يجعل نظام OFDM مقاوم لتأثيرات التداخل multipath . فكرة استخدام الارسال المتوازي باستخدام تقسيم التردد بدأت منذ الستينيات وقد أخذت الانتباه حاليا لذلك تطور نظام OFDM في أنظمة الاتصالات السلكية و اللاسلكية . في هذا البحث تم تصميم نظام ارسال و استقبال بتقنية OFDM وقد تمت محاكاته باستخدام برنامج MATLAB .
