The Structure and Magnetic Properties of Cobalt Nanoparticles Ferrite Synthesized Through Co-precipitation and Doped with Mg and Zn
(alneelain, 2014) Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Omer
Abstract The samples of Cox-1MgxFe2O4 and Cox-1ZnxFe2O4with (x=0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75,1.00) nanoparticle ferrites were prepared. Structural and magnetic properties and investigated by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Micro- Raman Spectroscopy ,Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), magnetization and Mossbauer spectroscopy. The structural studies showed that all the samples prepared through the co-precipitation method (wet chemical) are single phase of a face-centered cubic(FCC) spinel symmetry structures with space group SG:Fd-3m. In the series Cox-1 MgxFe2O4, the lattice constants are found to increase as the value of x increases, whereas in the series Cox-1ZnxFe2O4 also increase as the value of x increases. The grain size as obtained from the analyses of the XRD and the STM data showed that it is of order of 50 nm. And the lattice parameters are in range of (0.83 to 0.84)nm. The magnetization data collected at room temperature for the two series Cox-1 MgxFe2O4 and Cox-1ZnxFe2O4 as ( M-H) loops, revealed presence of magnetic ordering and paramagnetism behavior .The presence magnetic ordering and paramagnetism are further investigated in most of the samples by using the Mossbauer spectroscopy at room and liquid nitrogen temperatures. Occurrence of super-paramagnetism is evidenced in many of the samples and related to the effect of the grain size as determined from the Mossbauer data which is signified by presence paramagnetic doublets at room temperature. The current work shows that it is possible to prepare superparamagnetic nanoferrites materials by using simple route.
