    Application of Safety in Chemical Laboratory Case Study Sudanese Electricity Distribution Company “Central Laboratory for Technical Service and Calibration

    Abstract The study aimed to understand and evaluate the effect of application of occupational safety and health systems at the central laboratory of the Sudanese Electricity Distribution Company. Through analyzing the central laboratory data, we noticed that there is a significant decrease in the number of accidents and injuries and the absence of occupational diseases within the institution due to good control in the factors causing them in the laboratory. Chemical laboratories are considered to be one of the most hazardous workplaces, so chemical laboratory workers are the most vulnerable when using hazardous substances, whether liquid, solid, gas or radioactive, if they are not aware of the preventive measures to be taken while working. This may be accompanied by other factors, such as the area of the laboratory, the quantity of materials available, insufficient lighting, lack of ventilation, high temperature of the working environment, and the accumulation of workers in the laboratory. in order to enable the chemical laboratories to achieve their objectives and to do their role, it is necessary to provide safety procedures and create a safe work environment and to define the employees of the safety rules in order to prevent risks in the laboratory and achieve the greatest amount of occupational health and reduce the properties and human losses. المستخلص: هدفت الدراسة إلى فهم وتقييم أثر تطبيق نظم السلامة والصحة المهنية والبيئة على المعمل المركزي للشركة السودانية لتوزيع الكهرباء، ومن خلال تحليل معطيات المعمل المركزي لاحظنا أن هنالك انخفاض كبير في أعداد الحوادث والإصابات وانعدام للإمراض المهنية داخل المؤسسة وذلك بسبب التحكم الجيد في العوامل المسببة لها داخل المختبر. تعتبر المختبرات الكيميائية من أكثر أماكن العمل خطورة لذلك فان العاملين في المختبرات الكيميائية هم أكثر الفئات عرضة للمخاطر عند استخدام المواد الخطرة سواء كانت سائلة أو صلبة أو غازية أو مشعة وذلك في حالة عدم معرفتهم للتدابير الوقائية الواجب اتخاذها أثناء العمل وهي عادة تكون بسبب التعامل مع هذه الأجهزةأو المواد الكيميائيةبشكل غير سليم و هذا قد يترافق مع عوامل أخرى مثل مساحة المختبر وكمية المواد الموجودة وعدم كفاية الإضاءة ونقص التهوية و ارتفاع درجة حرارة بيئة العمل و تكدس أعداد العاملين داخل المختبر. ومن أجل تمكين المختبرات الكيميائية من تحقيق أهدافها والقيام بدورها لابد من توفير إجراءات السلامة وإيجاد بيئة عمل خالية من المخاطر وإلى تعريف العاملين بقواعد السلامةبهدف الوقاية من المخاطر داخل المختبر وتحقيق أكبر قدر من الصحة المهنية تقليل الخسائر المادية والبشرية.
