    QoS of VoIP over WiMAX

    ABSTRACT Voice over Internet Protocol is a rapid growing technology, which enables the transport of voice data over Internet Protocol based networks. Voice over Internet Protocol has become a possible alternative to Public Switched Telephone Network due to its capabilities to transport voice data in the form of digital Internet Protocol packets over the TCP/IP based Internet. In parallel, a remarkable increase is happening in the deployment of IEEE 802.16 standard based WiMAX networks. This research investigates the performance of VoIP traffic over WiMAX networks. The impact of various voice codec schemes and statistical distribution for VoIP over WiMAX has been investigated in detail. Through various simulation experiments under realistic networking scenarios, this study provides an insight into the VoIP performance in the WIMAX networks. Parameters that indicate the Quality of Service such as delay, jitter, packet loss and MOS are analyzed in these scenarios. The simulations results indicate that better choice of voice codecs and statistical distribution have significant impaction VoIP performance in the WiMAX networks. نبذة مختصرة يعد بروتوكول نقل الصوت عبر الإنترنت تقنية سريعة النمو تتيح نقل البيانات الصوتية عبر الشبكات القائمة على بروتوكول الإنترنت. أصبح بروتوكول الصوت عبر الإنترنت بديلاً محتملاً لشبكة الهاتف العامة المحولة نظرًا لقدرتها على نقل البيانات الصوتية في شكل حزم بروتوكول الإنترنت الرقمي عبر الإنترنت المستند إلى TCP / IP. في موازاة ذلك ، تحدث زيادة ملحوظة في نشر شبكات WiMAX القائمة على معيار IEEE 802.16. يبحث هذا البحث في أداء نقل VoIP عبر شبكات WiMAX. تم التحقيق بالتفصيل في تأثير مخططات ترميز الصوت المختلفة والتوزيع الإحصائي لـ VoIP عبر WiMAX. من خلال تجارب المحاكاة المختلفة في ظل سيناريوهات الشبكات الواقعية ، توفر هذه الدراسة نظرة ثاقبة لأداء VoIP في شبكات WIMAX. يتم تحليل المعلمات التي تشير إلى جودة الخدمة مثل التأخير وعدم الاستقرار وفقدان الحزمة و MOS في هذه السيناريوهات. تشير نتائج المحاكاة إلى أن الاختيار الأفضل لشفرات الصوت والتوزيع الإحصائي له تأثير كبير على أداء VoIP في شبكات WiMAX.
