    PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF VIDEO TRAFFIC OVER WIFI NETWORK

    Abstract Wi-Fi networks are play an important role in wireless communications and are preferred among other wireless technologies because of its high bit rate and larger bandwidth. The objectives of this research are to study, analyze, plan and simulate the Wi-Fi network to evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi network using OPNET simulink software program. The parameters which were taken into consideration for the evaluation are data rate, number of nodes and simulation time. From the results it is observed that as the data rate increases the delay decreases and the throughput increases, and jitter decreases. It is therefore important to set the number of subscribers in such a way to decrease the delay. المستخلص تلعب شبكات Wi-Fi دورًا مهمًا في الاتصالات اللاسلكية وهي مفضلة من بين التقنيات اللاسلكية الأخرى نظرًا لمعدل البت فيها المرتفع وعرض النطاق الترددي الأكبر. تتمثل أهداف هذا البحث في دراسة شبكة Wi-Fi وتحليلها وتخطيطها ومحاكاتها لتقييم أداء شبكة Wi-Fi باستخدام برنامج OPNET simulink software program. العوامل التي أخذت في الاعتبار للتقييم هي معدل البيانات وعدد العقد ووقت المحاكاة. من النتائج لوحظ أنه مع زيادة معدل البيانات ينخفض التأخير و تزيد الإنتاجية ، ويتقلص الارتعاش. ولذلك من المهم تعيين عدد المشتركين بطريقة تقلل التأخير.
