    Detection and Classification of Anemia using Artificial Neural Networks: Comparison of Three Models

    This paper presents different classifier algorithms neural network to diagnose and classify anemia and compare these current classifier with feed forward back propagation, Elman network and Non-linear Auto-Regressive exogenous model . The results obtained from a range of models while conduction the experiments. The proposed network is trained by using the data received from clinical laboratory test results for 230 patients. The network has nine inputs (age, gender, RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, and MCHC, WBCs) and an output. The simulation results obtained for different patients show that the proposed artificial neural network detects the disease very fast, and precise. Therefore this network can be implemented to automatically present the anemia patients’ reports in the clinical laboratory. The proposed technique can be implemented in hardware with minimal cost.

    Replacing a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) With a Personnel Computer (PC) in Industrial Control

    The Dr. Mahmoud Sharif thermal Power Station (MSPS) that located in Khartoum north is a part of Sudan National electric Grid. It is an oil fired station and consists of 6 units of a total capacity of 420 MW. The paper concentrates on the water treatment plant facility that consists of four main units filter, cation exchanger, anion exchanger and mixed bed exchanger. The control system of these units uses the old (PLC) 5TI-1010. It is being observed that (PLC) 5TI-1010 lacks the alarms and events in a proper storage fashion. This causes many inconveniences in the plant during monitoring and control process. This study intend to replace (PLC) 5TI-1010 by using a personal computer utilizing the available inputs and outputs PLC modules . The Vc++ is used to perform process control logic, user interface and to communicate with Atmega16 microcontroller through Modbus protocol .The microcontroller's SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) has been programmed to exchange input and output with (PLC) modules. The design is implemented on limited numbers of PLC's Input and Output to simulate filter cleaning process .The obtained results provide resourceful information about the plant control and working conditions , that is noticeable in plant operation ,using Graphical user interface, the I/O update using RTU Modbus master/slave ,plant operation and control besides parameters archiving(alarm and event). المستخلص: ويعرض البحث محطة كهرباء محمود شريف الحرارية (MSTPS) التي تقع في الخرطوم ، جزء من الشبكة الكهربائية السودانية الوطنية. وهي محطة تعمل بالبترول وتتكون من 6 وحدات بسعة كلية بمقدار 420 ميجا واط. وتركز الورقة على منشأة محطة معالجة المياه التي تتكون من أربع وحدات رئيسية مرشح، مبادل الموجبة، مبادل أنيون ومتبادل سرير مختلطة . نظام التحكم في هذه الوحدات يستخدم (PLC) 5TI-1010القديم ومن الملاحظ أن (PLC) 5TI-1010 تفتقر إلى أجهزة الإنذار والأحداث بطريقة التخزين المناسبة. . هذا يسبب العديد من المضايقات في المصنع خلال عملية الرصد والمراقبة. هذه الدراسة تعتزم استبدال (PLC) 55TI-1010 باستخدام جهاز كمبيوتر شخصي مع الابقاء المدخلات والمخرجات المتوفرة . استخدمت لغةVC ++ لأداء منطق التحكم في العمليات، واجهة المستخدم والتواصل مع متحكم Atmega16 من خلال بروتوكول مودبوس. برمج المتحكم لتبادل المدخلات والمخرجات مع وحدات(PLC) بواسطة SPI (Serial peripheral Interface). تم نفيذ التصميم على عدد محدود من المدخلات والمخرجات (PLC) لمحاكاة عملية تنظيف المرشح.النتائج التي تم الحصول عليها توفر معلومات مرجعية كاملة عن ظروف عمل المصنع.
